The Foundation Stone is Laid
Late Shri Ajay Gupta Ji founds the SKI Group as a die-casting firm. Being a trained engineer, he sets out to supply aluminium die-casted parts to auto OEM manufacturers — scooter pedals, footrests, and similar precision components.

Years of supplying the auto sector teach SKI the discipline of zero-defect manufacturing. This precision becomes the foundation for everything that follows.
First Soleplate Order
SKI begins producing soleplates for irons — entering the home appliance industry through component manufacturing for India's biggest brands including Philips, Bajaj, and Usha.
Complete Iron Manufacturing
SKI forays into complete iron manufacturing in partnership with Bajaj Electricals — marking the transition from component supplier to full-product OEM manufacturer.
Kala-Amb Manufacturing Hub
SKI establishes its first dedicated manufacturing plant at Kala-Amb, Himachal Pradesh — a strategic location offering scale, infrastructure, and quality logistics.
Full Backward Integration
SKI invests deeply in vertical integration — building in-house capabilities for Die Casting, Injection Moulding, PTFE Coating, Heating Elements, Thermostats, and Power Cord manufacturing — all under one roof.
Steam Iron Diversification

Entry into Fans
SKI strategically enters the fan manufacturing segment, leveraging its in-house motor winding, die-casting, and powder coating capabilities to deliver premium quality fans to OEM partners.
Three Plants. One Standard.
The Kala-Amb facility expands to three full manufacturing plants with 20 injection moulding machines and 4 die-casting machines — solidifying SKI's manufacturing dominance.
Made-in-India Kettles
Until 2022, electric kettles in India were imported. SKI changes that — pioneering domestic kettle manufacture and bringing this category fully home to India.

The group was founded in 1984 by Late Shri Ajay Gupta Ji as a die-casting firm supplying aluminium die-casted parts to auto OEM manufacturers — scooter pedals, footrests, and similar precision components.
Being an engineer himself, his experience helped him master the sensitive quality standards of the auto sector. Expanding on this foundation, he started producing soleplates for irons used by Philips, Bajaj and Usha during 1990–1999.
In 1999, he forayed into complete iron manufacturing with Bajaj Electricals — and SKI has been expanding ever since, becoming the largest manufacturer of irons in Asia.
